If you see the possibility, it's your response-ability!

Τhrough this blog and my podcast called ‘Regenerative Lifestyle Lab’, I’m embarking on an exploration that has been on my mind, heart, and soul for many years: living creatively and regeneratively.

My journey of questioning the status quo began in childhood, observing my parents’ daily conflicts and believing in the possibility of better relationships and a more fulfilling life. It was a seed that grew into a deep desire to uncover better ways to earn a living, enjoy life, and break free from the routine that society offered—a mere fraction of what life could truly be.

Driven by this passion, I delved into transforming conventional perspectives into “inventional” perspectives. ‘Live life as an art and for the Earth do our part’, became my mantra. Permaculture emerged as the vehicle through which I could inspire change and encourage others to embrace their responsibility—their response-ability—to regenerate themselves and their environment.

The notion of response-ability isn’t just about mundane responsibility. It’s about recognising our ability to truthfully respond to life’s possibilities and that we can only change our reality by shifting our perspective. And how do we shift our perspective? As astrophysicist Manos Danezis told me in 2018: learn to speak your truth like a free person, without fear. Can you?

His advice to speak my truth – to express my deepest self –  without fear sparked a realisation within me. My failure to live my truth (fueled by my fear of hurting/disappointing those around me) held me back, and only by embracing honesty could I alter my reality. This revelation was a pivotal moment in my journey, which formed a new perspective around truth and response-ability—it was my personal responsibility to respond with my truth, and by doing so, regenerate not only my world but the world around me.

If you see the possibility –  it’s your responsibility

The possibility of what I hear you ask?

The possibility to take off your mask

and bask in the glory of a real task

And what’s a real task I hear you ask?

Respond to the call inside your soul

Break the mold of what you’ve been told

Be bold

Tell a story that’s untold

Allow life to unfold

If you see the possibility –  it’s your responsibility

What does this mean in practical terms?

An example is to express your concerns
Express what you’re feeling

Express what you’re seeing

Express what you’re hearing

Express what you believe in

Dance it, rap it, sing it, draw it, write it, speak it, cook it, OWN it

Expression could take any form

There is really no norm

So if you have a vision that’s beyond television

That only you, for now, can see

Then it’s your responsibility to bring that possibility into reality

Don’t let anyone or anything get in your way

Who am I anyway to judge?

We’re all equal in this cosmic sludge.

You are me and I am you,

We’re all reflecting each other’s view

So now we’re here and we’re here to say:

It’s OUR time to do it OUR WAY!

If you see the possibility –  it’s your responsibility!

If you want to see different possibilities, you need to be truthful and fearless, as I expressed earlier. First and foremost, be truthful to yourself. What other people think, what other people say, is their business and their business alone. No-one else can know what’s best for you, what gives you joy, what’s appearing in your visions. YOU are only responsible for what YOU think, for what YOU feel and how YOU act.

A fun thing happens when you express your truth and you drop your fear: you tune into the infinite field of possibilities, you see things/options/people that you hadn’t noticed before. You realise that you are only limited by your imaginations and…your limiting beliefs. I’m still identifying beliefs that are holding me back from truly shining!! Even though other people see me as successful in some way, I know that I’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg of my success.

What does taking response-ability look like practically? It’s about expressing our feelings, beliefs, and visions. It’s about having the guts to do things differently to the majority of people around you. It’s about remaining unaffected by what other people think (one of my biggest challenges!). In other words, your responsibility lies in bringing your vision into reality, unhindered by skepticism, other peoples’ opinions or perceived obstacles. All this melts away when you dance to the tune of your soul.

While doing all of this, I started to replace the word ‘sustainable’ with ‘regenerative’, since the latter focuses on nurturing ecosystems by replenishing them with more energy than we consume, enabling us to have surplus which we can share back with the earth and with people. This principle applies to our lives—caring for ourselves (which also means speaking our truth without fear!) regenerates us and frees up energy to impact others positively. Fun and creativity are essential fuels for regeneration!

My intention, through this blog and future endeavors, is to open spaces for co-travellers with a vision of a regenerative future. By collaborating and sharing insights, we can break the patterns of the past and lay the foundation for a new reality – the reality we have seeded in our DNA, that just needs space to sprout and take on a life of its own.

If you’re ready to explore regenerative possibilities, design a lifestyle in the countryside that feeds your soul, nourishes the Earth, and gets you co-creating with your community, join me on this journey. Let’s discover together how to do things better, unlock new perspectives, and design a more creative, fun and meaningful world.
